Phytocannabinoids
These are naturally occurring compounds in cannabis - such as THC and CBD - that directly interact with the receptors of the body's endocannabinoid system to produce a spectrum of physical and mental effects. The two most widespread and well-known phytocannabinoids are THC and CBD, but in total there are more than a hundred, including CBG, THCV, CBN and others.
The effects of phytocannabinoids on the human body are due to their binding to CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system.
