Stigma

The stigma, or scar, is part of the pistil in cannabis plants, but only in females - males do not have scars. Around the 2nd-4th week of flowering, white pistils begin to form on the cannabis flower, waiting for their dose of pollen. After the pistil contacts the pollen from the male, the bud is fertilised and seed production begins.
In addition to reproduction, the scarred pistils are also used to determine the maturity of the cannabis. The moment the pistils turn orange to brown, the cannabis begins to ripen. Depending on the cannabis gene (sativa or indica), plants with 70-90 % or 60-70 % orange-brown pistils are considered mature for harvesting.
